A stitch in time saves nine

There goes a proverb "A stitch in time saves nine." It means taking timely action is very crucial in our lives. The literal meaning of this proverb is that a small tear in a cloth can be repaired with a single stitch. But if it is not sewn in time, its tear will continue to widen more and more then it will need many stitches to mend the cloth. Besides the literal meaning, the proverb has a deeper meaning. If we delve into the deep we will get the deep meaning of the proverb. The deeper meaning is that timely action in any matter saves us from a lot of troubles, loss, and waste. For instance, a wall must be repaired as soon as a crack is seen; otherwise, the whole building might fall. If there is a hole in a boat, we have to repair the hole of the boat when it is seen or the boat will sink. A little cough is nothing. But if it is neglected, it might develop into serious diseases like tuberculosis. Likewise, a student who procrastinates and leaves their lessons for later suffers from stress, fear, and health problems. He must complete his lessons regularly. He must not leave them for tomorrow. If he neglects to study in time, he will be unable to complete his lessons. As a result, he will have to 'burn the midnight oil' before the examination. It may spoil his health and in addition, there is a danger of forgetting whatever he has read. Besides, he may fall victim to tension and fear. Therefore, to avoid such situations, every person should complete their work on time, which brings success in life.
